At the end of 2004 one of the world’s largest plastic product manufacturers, Indorama of Thailand, started construction of the Orion Global PET, a major high-tech PET granule manufacturing plant in the Klaipeda Free Economic Zone.

Established in 1983, the Lithuanian laser producer EKSPLA initially represented the scientific instrumentation market of the former USSR. In 1993 EKSPLA entered the Japanese market and to date over thirty Japanese spectroscopic and material research laboratories have purchased EKSPLA laser systems. After later successfully entering the European, Asian, North and South American as well as Australian markets, today EKSPLA has half of the world market for pico-second lasers.
